Farmers' Egg Hunt & Animal Tour
Come bring your family for a real-deal farm experience! Plan to come enjoy the outdoors, walk through the farm fields, meet some animals, and see where you food is coming from. Besides all the FUN, kids will gain a basic understanding of what goes into animal care and food production at the farm.
What to expect:
We will take a walk down to tour the fields and animals. We will do our Farmers' Egg Hunt: you will collect eggs from the laying hens (each carload registration includes 1 dozen eggs). Kids can touch the hens and feed them if they want. We will then walk on to see the new broiler (meat) chicks. And finally we will visit and feed the pigs and maybe even see some new-born piglets!
While this will involve a bit of a walk, we will also have a dyed-egg hunt near the parking area and a spring farm craft, primarily focused for little kids or those who don't want to walk much, but welcome to all ages!
We are requiring registration so that we can limit the number of cars per tour timeslot, and ensure that kids have enough space to explore safely and happily and not stress the animals too much. Registration is $20/car (CSA members see you email for a coupon for $15/car). Registration includes 1 dozen eggs you collect per carload.
We will also have a limited farmstand available in case anybody wants to purchase additional eggs, meats, or veggies.
Handwashing stations and hand sanitizer will be available for your safety and convenience, and to maintain farm biosecurity. We recommend good walking shoes or boots for fields/mud. NO PETS, please.
